if your talking about the cv boots, its usually cheaper and faster to replace the whole axle.

Well the axle's are fine. In fact I wouldn't replace them except they have boots that are really worn - like rubber rotting.
I guess I'm gonna have to start looking around for prices, cause I'm not replacing the axles if they are not bad, and a friggen set of rubber boots is not going to cost more than $40 bucks...I'm just looking for a another alternative than Honda. Plus aftermarket Axles are known for problems.

Manchester Honda quote for outer CV Boots Kit....I should be able to find something cheaper...hell I wish Energy Suspension made poly boots. I thought I had seen them somewhere, but guess not.
QUESTION...when it says Outer CV Boot Kit, do you guys think this is just the CV Boot to the knuckle side only for both sides, not even including the inner. If so, I do not think Honda makes the inner.

ya , better to replace the whole haftshaft. You can get them at AutoZone for $60. I dont know if yours will be the same but my 91 DX was a 26 spline
*actually it costs $104, but there is a $45 core charge..you get it back

Um...I would recommend a remanufactured Honda OEM axle. Unless you like taking CV joints apart, it is a waste of time to buy just the boot, like Saucycivic said. You need to remove the axle anyway to replace the boot, so why not buy an axle and be done with it? If the boot is cracking and rotting, you may already have sand/dirt/water in the CV joint and in that case it is already shot and a matter of time before you have to replace it anyway.
However, to answer your question, I did buy a poly boot (a blue one) from NAPA for my '78 Civic once..That bitch outlasted the car
That was 10 years ago so I don't remember the cost, it was a little more than the regular rubber one, but not much $5-10 maybe. Since then and since I only own one car, I don't mess around with boots anymore, I just buy re-manned axles (~$75-100??). It is all about how much your time is worth.

hmmm, I might. I'd rather get good boots and swap them out. Did it on my first CRX, and it was a pain, but I got it together eventually and still have those axles form that old car today.
